30 Days of Yoga with a little help from Down Dog
If you’d have told me a few years ago how much I would benefit from Yoga I would have laughed. In my twenties I had no fear, I was physically fit and a keen white water kayaker, climber, surfer and paddle boarder. Now in my mid thirties things are a little different. Not because I’m not doing any of these sports, I still am, but something happened a few months back that would make me appreciate everything I’ve taken for granted in the last 36 years.
First and foremost I would like to thank Down Dog who graciously gave me 6 months use of their app in order to get my fitness back.
For those of you that don’t know, 5 months ago I had an accident at work and fell 6m off a roof and into someones back garden. I won’t go into the details but I ended up with broken vertebrae, ribs, torn ACJ ligaments in my shoulder, lacerated spleen & kidney, a partially collapsed lung and some severe swelling and discomfort to the organs on the left side of my body i.e. stomach, kidney, intestines etc.
I was lucky to be alive, let alone able to walk.
Day 1 of My Yoga Journey | The Benefits of Yoga
Never before had I been so inflexible. I was never that stretchy before my accident, I could barely touch my toes with straight legs, but now I’m even worse.
I started using the Down Dog app initially because of the free trial, but when I told them about my injuries they gave me a few months for free! I will definitely be paying when my free period is up!
I’ve gone through the set up and started with an “easy” 15 minute core session. There are so many options to choose from but this seemed to be the best suited to me.

I’ll also be incorporating another one of my 30 day challenges into this to maximise results. Check out my 30 Days of Steak and Eggs challenge.
